August 6

Starting Point: Medicine Rocks State Park

Ending Point: Little Missouri National Grasslands, ND

States visited: Montana, North Dakota!

Dining: hot dogs for breakfast, buffalo burgers for lunch, hot dogs for dinner

Accommodations: Little Missouri National Grasslands has campgrounds immediately south of the north unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park.  Camping here is a couple bucks cheaper than camping in the park, though there are no showers here, and by now we were on day 3 without a shower, so it was starting to matter to us.  This was the only night of the trip it rained, but at least the rain held off till camp was already set up.

Things we learned today we didn't know before: Groceries, firewood, Pabst Blue Ribbon, etc. are all extremely overpriced in Medora.  We wonder where the locals shop.  Toadstools are not unique to Nebraska, and they sometimes have petrified tree stumps on top.

Coolest person we met today: The lady at the North Dakota tourism office at the state line, who thought we were insane for coming to North Dakota.  We also liked the guy who fitted us for cowboy hats in Baker.

Would we come back?  Yes!
